Randawesome Prompt Friday

Hey! It's time for the Friday Thing!

Remember a few posts ago when I was throwing around ideas and one of them was to put up a writing prompt? Remember? The reason I thought it would be a good idea was that I do them every week with my writer's group and I generally find them helpful. When I went to the conference this past weekend, that idea was reinforced in workshops. So that's what we're a-gonna do.

Except writing prompts are usually pretty short and I'm a long-winded broad. So, I'm also going to post some miscellaneous bit of awesome I've found during the week. Just because. Okay? Okay. Here we go.

(There used to be a pic of a little girl in robot war gear here. It's here now.)

WEEKLY PROMPT:
Pick up the book that is nearest to you. Take the first name of the author and write it down. Picture a person with that name. (If you know what the author looks like, choose a different book.) For the next fifteen minutes, write a description of that person without using physical markers such as eye, hair, or skin color, height, weight, etc.

If you work with the prompt, I'd love to hear about it. Otherwise, I'm going to end with a birthday shout-out to Magnum, who celebrated his Everything Birthday this week (42!). Happy Birthday, Love.

  1. Raychelle is witty and wise. When she is around it's easy to miss her because her energy is subtle. It would benefit you to snap to and pay close attention to her, though, as she is bound to break out with some little nugget of truth that will positively effect you.
She has a sunny disposition with a smile to match and a laugh that carries you along for the ride.
(Not sure if that's what you meant but, oh well.)
    HAPPY BIRTHDAY MAGNUM.

  4. The nearest book is Jenny Lawson's, so, not real helpful. I AM going to run with that prompt though, tomorrow. I'll let you know where it goes. Super cool idea, well done.

Happy Happy Birthday Magnum!!! (Also tomorrow I'll be buying some ice cream bars in your honor. Crap, I hope they have small boxes.)

  5. Funny enough the nearest book is First Aid for Cats by Bruce Fogle. The funny bit is that right now I'm in the revision phase of a novella starring a protagonist named Bruce. Homework done! Phew... cause it's passed my bedtime.

    1. Welcome, Riya! Happy Birthday to you, too. Medical journals count; all you need is a name. :)
