Under Pressure

Guys, I have a lot on my plate. A. Lot.

Therefore, today we will marvel at the incongruity of New England weather. After which, I will go back to emptying my brain into my WIP. (I really don't think there's much left. Of my brain, I mean.) And then I will go sell raffle tickets at the town elections next to the Women's Auxiliary ladies who feed their fundraiser pot-luck lunch to men in long beards and vintage military regalia. Because that's what we do here.

So. Weather. Eight days ago, this was the view from my front door:

Today, there is zero snow on the ground and my children are wearing short sleeved shirts. It's weird here. But, hey, if you show up at the elections, we can feed you some chili regardless of any meteorological freakishness. We're good like that.

What's been keeping you busy lately?

  1. Car troubles mostly. Seems to be cool now, though. Also, trying to get through the very helpful GMC by Deb Dixon so I can return it to the library. I wish I could find a reasonable copy to buy.

    1. Ugh. Car troubles are the worst. You can never tell how much of a small fortune they're going to cost. Glad they're fixed and that the book is helping you. :)

  2. I'm writing the end of the book while revising the beginning. We've reached the end of the winter birthdays here (January, January, March, March), so that opens up a slight window until August. I have so many piles of paper scattered everywhere I get anxious looking at them. I have to finish planning our trip to Yellowstone, and I'm about to watch my brother's dog while he's in Disney. Half the kids have minimum days for the rest of the week for conferences. I have to attend conferences.

The bright spot in the week is Four's stage debut, as part of the ensemble for "Doo Wop Wed Widing Hood," an original production at his school. Can't wait to see the play, because he's been singing the music for weeks!

I would like us both to find time to nap.

    1. You know you're just creating more work for yourself, right?

I know the feeling with the birthdays. Three of mine are in January and February. It's always such a relief when they're done. Good luck to Four in his stage debut!

  3. oh, a nap sounds lovely. I don't know why, but the time change always ruins my sleep for a few days. I hate it, and I don't understand why. It's only an hour, after all.

House renovations, school, kids. That's what is keeping me busy and it's plenty! Our weather is similarly up and down. We have no snow on the ground right now, but we're supposed to get some tonight. It was sunny and near 60 yesterday.

  4. It sure has been a crazy weather year this year.

Keeping me busy -- work, working out, writing, reading. The usual. And that nap does sound wondeful.

    1. I wonder if I'll ever be diligent enough that working out will make my list. Good for you.

  5. Trying desperately not to kill the guy who tore down the woods next to my property. Reminds me of the song, Big Yellow Taxi by the Counting Crows -"They paved paradise and put up a parkin' lot". I'm this close *pinches fingers together* to writing a book about a woman who kills her irritating neighbor.

Otherwise the weather gods are having one heck of a party. NY was in the upper 60's - in March that's insane. (Hugs)Indigo

    1. I wish I could say I didn't know what you mean, but I know what you mean. My "neighbors" across the street are busy tearing out acres of trees to put in a subdivision no one wants to live in. We fought it tooth and nail, but part of the land lies in the neighboring town, so they got permitted anyway. Grrrr.

  6. Work, Short Fiction class, Writing for Children class, sorting out the new foods and did I say work and trying to stay warm in the cold, wet, very windy weather.

    1. Sorting out the new foods? I'd forgotten you were dieting, too. I've heard the wind is getting bad over there. Hope you get through it with no damage. And those classes sound like loads of fun.

    2. Well, a new diagnosis - diabetes, trying to keep it under control by diet and exercise. Worked last time when it crept up. In the genes. Blah.

  7. Now I want chili!!!

Busy? Kinda. Mostly obsessing over food, it's what I do, no way to stop it. Hanging with Dan, being entertained by, or cleaning up after, Max. Pool class. And did I mention obsessing over food?

    1. I'm happy to say that the chili thing didn't phase me. Mainly because I'm allergic to beans and I think cumin smells like boiled sweatsocks. Hmm...maybe I should switch to a Mexican diet.

  8. Well... kinda busy with nothing. (ducks head) I have to find a job, but can't really kick that into gear until I go back to Montreal for a couple weeks. I'm not even writing. ... ... ...I might be in a coma!
